about sd huesca

history

The origin of the present-day SD Huesca dates back to 1910, when the team was founded under the name Huesca Fútbol Club.

Since then, the entity has evolved, adopting different denominations in these 110 years of history: Huesca FC (1910-27), CD Huesca (1929-36), UD Huesca (1940-54) and, since 1960, Sociedad Deportiva Huesca.

The majority shareholder of the present public limited sports company (S.A.D., in Spanish), Fundación Alcoraz, is in charge of ensuring the continuity and subsistence of the Club in the city of Huesca.

The team play their home games at El Alcoraz stadium, which has been upgraded and modernised not only for the players but also for the spectators. It has been refurbished on several occasions, by expanding its capacity up to 9,100 spectators and carrying out a comprehensive transformation.

In the present 2022/23 season, the team play in LaLiga SmartBank. However, Huesca were promoted to the highest level of Spanish football twice, in the 2017–18 and 2019–20 seasons.

fieles siempre sin reblar

The motto, ‘Fieles siempre, sin reblar’ (Spanish for ‘Always loyal, we never give up’), perfectly reflects the spirit of the club, the fans and the province. It was first coined by a journalist of the Diario de Avisos de Zaragoza newspaper in 1913 after the nine-nil win of the Altoaragoneses over Gimnástica de Zaragoza. “Oscenses, you are the land where no-one ever gives up,” read his match report.

The verb ‘reblar’ comes from Latin ‘revirare’, meaning ‘going back’.

Respect & Sportmanship

Sin reblar

We never give up

Social commitment

We belong to our province

Ambassadors for the Pyrenees

SD Huesca have become the ambassador for our province - the whole Alto Aragón

WE BELONG TO OUR PROVINCE

The influence of the Azulgranas extends beyond the borders of the city itself, since it has managed to spread to the whole province of Huesca. 30% of our season ticket holders coming from outside the city is evidence of this.

It is common to see people in the street in a SD Huesca shirt, so we can tell that it is also present in most municipalities of the Alto Aragón. Everyone in the province has a strong sense of belonging – they are all proud of their team.

All this is due to a SD Huesca straightforward social and sport policy, trying to find a commonplace with the teams of all the peoples around and making the most of LaLiga’s showpiece competition to present not only the charm but also the values of the Alto Aragón, a province rich in nature and heritage.
